about

360 Recycled Skateboards, by Sam Messina, reworks broken skateboard decks into new life. Sam has been a skater for more than half his life.

Using the broken skateboard decks brings about a use for the boards he loved, rode and broke as well as the boards of other local skaters. Sharing his love of the perfect board - be it for skating the streets or wearing on your arm - is something that is a passion for Sam.

All our pieces are handcrafted using broken recycled wooden skate boards. These are generally 7ply Canadian Rock Maple timber, which have amazing colour combinations as part of each company's range. The wooden pieces are finished by hand using a non-toxic, water-based coating.
Our studio is set in the beautiful sub-tropical rainforest in Northern NSW, Australia. We work in the most sustainable, thoughtful and environmental manner that we can - living and working "the good life!".

360 Recycled Skateboards came about when Sam wanted to do more with the boards that were being thrown away, after each skater had riden it to the end. Sam has kept many of his favourite broken decks since he first started skating, and loves the history of the boards as well as the quality of the wood. He realised that the layers of coloured ply could be worked into something new. Sam has always been crafting, designing, planning and thinking new shapes and started with a perfectly simple and beautiful bracelet - something his wife (Ellie) would love wearing to match her own handcrafted clothing.
